Resting Butterflies Celebrates a Successful First Fundraising Event

Resting Butterflies hosted its very first fundraising event on August 7, 2026, and by all accounts, it was a tremendous success. More than 50 people gathered at Yetter Hall in Leander, Texas, to celebrate, raise awareness, and support the mission of Resting Butterflies.
Resting Butterflies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to guiding families affected by EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa) through the final flight of their butterfly child after they have gained their wings and passed away.
EB is a heartbreaking genetic skin condition that affects approximately 1 in every 50,000 births. It causes the skin and mucous membranes to blister and tear from even minor friction or trauma, often resulting in painful, raw, open wounds throughout the body. In severe cases, EB Warriors can develop squamous cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, along with other serious complications that can significantly impact both quality and length of life.
This is why Resting Butterflies was formed: to help ease the financial burden of end-of-life expenses for families who are already facing unimaginable loss. The organization has already been able to help several families, and the success of this first fundraising event means they can now reach and support even more.
As guests walked around the room, there was a sense of warmth and genuine purpose in the air. Family, friends, and complete strangers came together around one shared mission: supporting families who have experienced the loss of an EB Warrior. Along the walls, guests enjoyed catered food and drinks generously donated by local restaurants, grocery stores, and the families of Resting Butterflies board members.
Across the room were auction items donated by local vineyards, businesses, and individuals. Guests had the opportunity to bid on everything from wine gift baskets and exclusive wines to gift cards, original artwork, and branding packages for businesses.
Together, the generosity of everyone involved raised an incredible $4,000 RAISED One incredible night. One powerful mission. Countless families to support.
For an organization's very first fundraising event, this was truly an amazing accomplishment. But more than the money raised, the evening was filled with love, laughter, connection, and a shared understanding of why this mission matters. Every person in that room played a part in making the night special.

Before the evening even came to an end, guests were already asking the question: “Will this be an annual event?”
